Ovcij vid: Kaj so glavni vzroki za slabši vid pri starostnikih
As we age, our vision tends to deteriorate. This natural process is known as ovcij vid, or age-related vision loss. There are several factors that contribute to poorer eyesight in older adults.
One of the main causes is a condition called presbyopia, which affects the ability to focus on nearby objects. The lenses in our eyes become less flexible over time, making it harder to see up close. This typically starts to occur around the age of 40.
Another common cause of age-related vision loss is cataracts. Cataracts occur when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, causing blurry vision. This can make it difficult to see clearly and perform daily activities.
Macular degeneration is another leading cause of vision loss in older adults. This condition affects the macula, the part of the eye responsible for sharp central vision. As the macula deteriorates, it becomes harder to see fine details and perform tasks that require clear vision, such as reading and driving.
Other factors that can contribute to poor eyesight in older adults include diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and dry eyes. It's important for older adults to have regular eye exams to detect any potential issues early on and receive appropriate treatment.
